Two month appointment

Today the boys had their two month appointment and boy was it a good one. Graham, who was born at 5 pounds 8 ounces, and at his one month appointment weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces, was weighing in at 10 pounds 2 ounces at nine weeks old. He was also measuring at 22 inches, up two inches from his one month and another two from his birth. Even better, on his percentile chart, though both boys are still on the preemie charts (as they will be for some time because they were six weeks early), his weight, length and head circumference were all in the 90th percentile. Both of his tear ducts have become unclogged so that means no more goop, no more pirate eye and no more tears!! The only problem we are having with him is his colic - which feels like it has gotten worse, maybe just because I have spent A LOT of nights awake with a screaming baby that cannot be consoled. Clint has invented a reason for the colic - a little man that lives in Graham's butt who won't let the gas out. His name is Toots Magoots and he's a mean old man.

Killian is also doing great! He was born at 5 pounds 7 ounces, at his one month he weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and now at nine weeks he is weighing 9 pounds 14 ounces. His length is the same as Graham's, 18 to 20 to 22. And contrary to popular belief, his head is only one quarter centimeter larger than his brother's ;). Killian's weight and head circumference is in the 80th percentile and his length is in the 90th. His transition to formula has proved to be beneficial. For those of you who don't know, Killian has a milk protein allergy and so he is allergic to the dairy that is in my milk from my dairy consumption. But since he switched to formula - the most expensive out there mind you because of his specialized needs, his excessive spit up and vomiting has slowed down, his diaper rash has disappeared and his fussiness has gone away as well. He does have reflux, so we still have to sit him up for ten minutes after every meal, and we still experience some awesome spit up moments, but definitely nowhere near what we were dealing with before.

The boys are wonderful brothers and Clint and I are madly in love with them. They are smiling all the time, have started "talking" a little bit, and last night Killian laughed for the first time. Graham enjoys lifting his head up and looking around, while Killian enjoys being on his stomach and moving all over the floor. In fact, he'll scoot himself into Graham and start crying because his brother won't move out of the way. They have very obvious differences. Graham is a momma's boy while Killian is dad's best friend. Graham grunts and Killian snorts. Killian has very little patience, much like dad, and Graham HATES to be in a soiled or wet diaper for even a minute. In fact, I'll change him and ten minutes later he'll be wet again, and ten minutes later, I'll be changing him again. It can be aggravating.

They enjoy being next to each other, it's very comforting to them. Killian is a big mover, always moving his arms and legs, which means punching and kicking Graham all over. But he doesn't seem to mind much - he's pretty much used to it. Clint and I talk all the time about what we're going to do as a family, all the experiences we want for the boys to enjoy, and how wonderful our life is now. The dogs do really well with them. Batman loves to lick them and Jerry has become Mother Jerry. He gets upset when they cry, always checks their diaper, and loves to give them kisses all over - especially after they just eat.

We can't believe it's already been nine weeks! These boys have grown so much and seem so much older. I have been surviving staying at home with them, some good days and some bad. They have been staying up a lot more during the day and actually starting to sleep more at night. They sleep in bed with us, not exactly what I had planned but they have started to hate their bassinet, plus that gives us anywhere from four to six hours of straight sleep instead of one and a half to two hours. In a few weeks the boys and I will be leaving dad to go to California for two weeks to meet all the rest of their family. We are super excited but a little nervous to fly because of the hassle. We'll definitely miss dad though, and vice versa.

Lots of love to all!
