New stats and Halloween

Every day with the Byrd boys is quite the adventure. The little dudes are nonstop from the moment they wake up until the moment they go to bed (except for the teeny little nap that they take in the early afternoon). But every minute of the day is spent learning, exploring, playing independently and together, laughing, eating (a lot), and even some snuggling.

October started out as a very rough month. If you read my last blog, you know that my baby Little Jerry Seinfeld ran away on my birthday and was struck by a car and killed a few days later. Clint and I have not been the same since, neither has our every day life. Though our routine has gone back to normal, all of our habits, our memories, our thoughts are still affected by the loss of our first baby. Batman is very depressed and although we have talked about rescuing another dog to give Batman a buddy, I just can't think about it yet. As Clint has said, Jerry was my baby and I lost a part of myself.
However, life with two toddlers means you have to keep going and so we do. At the beginning of October we had our 18 month well check. It went fantastically well and I am so proud of my little dudes. Graham was weighing in 25 pounds 12.5 ounces which was in the 50th percentile. The great thing about this weight is that this has been his highest percentile in a long time and his doctor was super happy. Poor Graham has gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to illnesses (three months of ear infections, pneumonia, strep, etc.). And because of this, he has lost a lot of weight so seeing him hit the 50th percentile was a very happy moment for us. His height was 32 inches and that put him at the 45th percentile and his head was 47.25 in the 45 percentile. He's been walking for quite some time, talks a lot, is VERY playful and more than anything, loves to read. He would be happy reading books all day long and being read to. I am proud of my little first born - he's a totally different person than he was just a few months ago.





Now my sweet baby boy KB - that kid just keeps growing and growing. We compare him to his Uncle Chad all the time with how big he is but really, all of my brothers are quite tall as well. I think both the boys will be taller than both of us with all the tall people in our family. Killian weighed in at a whopping 28 pounds (although he's probably hit 29 in the last few weeks) and he is in the 75th percentile!!!!! The kid is huge! His height was 33.5 inches also in the 75th percentile and his head was 48.25 in the 70th percentile (another reason we compare him to Uncle Chad!). Not only is Killian a big boy, but he is freakishly strong. It is quite amazing to see the ways he uses his strength, like lifting bricks out of the ground that have been secured into place. KB loves puzzles and anything that he can stack and put into small places (like his shapes bucket).




Both of the boys love to color with crayons in their coloring books, or color the entire backyard with chalk. They play in the sandbox or just run around outside with each other. We spend time playing with balls and bubbles outside and driving all of our little ride alongs inside.



We absolutely love the park and of course, listening to and dancing to music. They have a great vocabulary, and both know about twenty to thirty words. We have also been working on all of our body parts and they love when we go over our body parts! They are good helpers while getting dressed and cleaning up and as always are great little eaters - little crazy monster eaters.

We were able to go to the pumpkin patch in October as well as go trick-or-treating as Brobee and Plex from Yo Gabba Gabba. The boys loved their costumes and getting all that free candy and even learned how to knock on the doors :) We are definitely looking forward to Thanksgiving, Thanksmas, Christmas and going to see Yo Gabba Gabba live! It's kind of sad to think that in a few short months Clint and I will begin planning the boys' two-year-old birthday party. How fast time flies!
